In 2005, Weyerhaeuser had a problem. Most of their competitors in the packaging business had single-location operations. For them, they could buy just one new printing press and leapfrog Weyerhaeuser's technology. They were doing that and taking away all of Weyerhaeuser's packaging business. With 105 plants across the US and Mexico, new presses and tooling would have cost Weyerhaeuser a billion dollars
Myself, along with a scientist and a project manager, developed a new technology that could replicate the high-end printing of a new press but on Weyerhaeuser's old equipment. I helped to rollout the technology, training thousands of designers, sales people, press operators and customers.
